Sunday on Saturday

I really don’t mind working a Sunday through Thursday schedule except when it comes to Saturday afternoon.  When Saturday afternoon rolls around I know Sunday morning is close and that means getting up to go to work.  Plus I hate having to go to bed “early” on Saturday night when everyone else is staying up late.  Oh well, I suppose that is the sacrifice I have to make to have Friday off.

This morning I was craving oats!

Cranberry Pumpkin Oats

In the mix:

  • 1/3 cup oat blend
  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/2 small container of Stoneyfield regular yogurt
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin
  • 1/2 cup cranberries
  • 1 Tb flax seed

I then topped the great bowl with some of this!

Toasted Berry Crumble cereal

This is by far one of my favorite cereals!  The flakes have a nice sweet flavor and great crunch.  Plus I love the berries!  This would make such a great topping to a cobbler!

Earlier this afternoon we made our grocery running trips.  We hit up Costco and Target.  At Costco we picked up our normal produce haul:

  • 10lb carrots
  • 6 red peppers
  • 2lb brussel sprouts
  • Container of spring field greens
  • a huge box of oranges!

Then we went to Target where we bought a little of this and a little of that.  I have to say thumbs down to Target as they were out of Oikos yogurt!  I have had this happen on more than one occasion.  Hello Target this is obviously a popular product.  Note to buyer…Order MORE!  Also, thumbs down it looks like they no longer carry WW yogurt.  They just completely revamped the dairy section and the WW yogurt no longer goes there.  I do prefer the Oikos, but occasionally I like a WW yogurt too.  Either way it was not a good trip to the Target dairy section.

One plus to Target was this!

This Dorot Frozen Chopped Cilantro

Look at this very smart packaging!

They come in individually frozen cubes

This is such a great find!  I love cilantro and Kevin hates it.  This will be perfect when I want to add some to a dish and he does not.  I hate to buy a bunch and have a lot of it go bad.  They also had crushed garlic, basil, and another I don’t remember.  Look for these if you like to have some on hand at all times!

We had lunch when we got home.  Nothing fancy, but it was quick and delicious!

  • Turkey sammy on a thin topped with mustard, greens, pickles, and banana peppers
  • Carrots
  • Huge grapefruit

I am off to watch the new season of Weeds.  I have dinner cooking away in the crotch pot.  It is this recipe with some slight modifications.  It smells great, I am excited!

Enjoy your Saturday, what is left of my Sunday!

Due to your post I spied the frozen cubes of ginger at Target. I think it will be a great way to keep ginger on hand for recipes.
