Yesterday was my WW weigh in day.  I was up 2.2lb.  Taking the stress of post vacation bliss right to the hips.  Let’s be honest, I need a new project to look forward to.

Thus….A 30 Day Challenge is in order!

The details of our challenge….

1) No outside food can be purchased.  This involves Starbucks (Gasp!  no hot tea, cinnamon dolce lattes, or drip brews for me)  I did already have one planned for Thursday of this week that has now been scrapped.  This also involves going out to eat, unless we have stipulated we are not the ones paying.

2) No convenience  foods can be eaten.  This includes: cans of soup, frozen meals, hot pockets, bars in any form, oatmeal squares, I think you are getting the point on this one!  I think the hardest is going to be microwaved popcorn!  ARGH!

3)  The only food we can buy from a grocery store during this time is perishable items such as fruits, veggies, and milk.

4) The challenge runs from 15Nov-14Dec 2009

Kevin asked why I wanted to do this and all I could say was I was getting into a rut of can of soup for lunch, sandwich, and frozen meal for dinner.  Enough said!  We shall see how it goes!

Time for some food photos:

Lunch at Whole Foods

Lunch at Whole Foods

I love eating at Whole Foods!  I could eat their hot food and cold bar pretty much everyday and never be tired.  I just go and pick a little bit of this and a little bit of that and before you know it you have concocted a $12 salad!  YUM!  I usually forgo bread, but this roll was calling my name it had all these different types of seeds in it and it was perfect.  I saved  part of it for later.  I also got a kids size gelato of gingerbread and pumpkin.  So good!  Whole Foods you rock my socks off!!!!

To ease Kevin’s transition into the no convenience foods for a month I baked banana bread so that he can have something other than an oatmeal square for breakfast.

I used a BearCreek chili mix and added just about a can of every bean we had in the cupboard.  When it was done simmering I added 1/2 cup of pumpkin and 1/2 cupGreek yogurt and mixed it good.  I added a bit of cinnamon as well.  It tasted so good!  You could not taste the pumpkin, just a warm flavor.

I also did a bit of baking today:

I wish this whole thing was for me, but no these babies are for the safety meeting this week.  I know that food doesn’t equal love, but what if love was on the ingredient list?  I just think that sometimes it is nice to bake things for people.  Plus, I love to bake and it works out even better when it is not hanging around the house waiting for me to eat it.

That is pretty much it for my super busy Saturday.  Oh yeah, I am thinking about doing a 5k the first weekend in December.  It is going to be so cold!  I need the challenge!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
