Project Food Blog Challenge #1-Let’s Get Growing!

As I have posted previously,  I entered myself in the FoodBuzz Project Food Blog Challenge.  To break it down it is a bunch of foodies, around 2,000, who blog competing for the coveted spot of being the next Food Blog Star.  The first challenge is simple it consists of two questions: What defines you as a food blogger and why should you be the next Food Blog Star?

While the questions may be simple summing up answers are anything but.  Let me start at the beginning…

This is me on our honeymoon in February 2006

It is hard to believe that this picture was taken just under five years ago.  The even harder part is realizing that the person in the picture is and was me.  Not too long after we got married I decided I wanted to get healthier and live a happier life.  Thus, the Growing into Rebecca metamorphosis was set in motion.

Now you have the foundation of the blog and where I started at.  The fact that I lost 150 pounds sets me apart from other bloggers for sure, but that is not all.  I love food, which is evident from the photo above.  What I did not realize at the time is that food can be enjoyed to the fullest and still be healthy!  That is the secret-healthy food=healthy lifestyle.  But, my blog does not just focus on salads and carrots.  Oh, no!  My goal is to eat my way around the world tasting the best that each region has to offer!

I have cooked dinner in an efficiency studio in Athens

Good thing I did not have to read the instructions, as they were all in Greek

I have cupped coffee at a roasting plant

I am pretty sure the dinner that followed this camel ride involved pigeon

While I wish I could do nothing but travel, the reality is that I have a life in Omaha, Nebraska.  I do not like things to get stagnant so this last year I challenged myself to run a half marathon.

Posing for post race pancakes

I have also realized that life can neither be to strict or too lenient.  While a green leafy salad may always be the best choice it does not always mean that it is the only choice.  Life is best lived in moderation.

Moderation sometimes means Maple Glazed Bacon!

As to why I should be the next Food Blog Star?  Well you have seen where my roots lie, a person who has totally transformed her life and chose health as the best challenge that could ever be worked towards.  However, by being the next Food Blog Star I will get the chance to Grow into Rebecca on a whole new and exciting level.  Life is a journey not a destination!

Me today

Voting will open tomorrow and I will provide more details.  It would be an honor to receive your  vote and move into the next round!
